During IBC, the Avatar director, whose company CPG is looking towards China for growth, said “I now feel motivated again to continue with 3D”, and “There is room for improvement but this already good enough for the consumer market, you guys are the first to blow out the door.”
He was referring to a 56-inch Dimenco glasses free 3D solution. The Dutch autostereoscopic display specialist has licensed Dolby 3D image processing for its new ultra-HD 4K 3D panels.
Dolby 3D is a holistic 3D HD format and suite of technologies designed to deliver full HD 3D content to 3D-enabled devices not just glasses-free displays.

3D Focus recently exclusively revealed that James Cameron is considering shooting parts of Avatar 2 and 3 in China, a country investing heavily in the format, even to the point of only allowing 3D and IMAX western movies to be eligible for cinema distribution.
